Mollie's page

Hi everyone!  Well I made it in one piece, despite a few hitches in Portland starting off my adventure.  There was a small incident of an Arab with something in his carryon that should not have been there.  Then there was Mollie with her Silver flask, no real problem but it was filled Curacao and they made me take a sip right then and there. I am now off to Belize via Houston.  Yeah .  Arrived safe and sound in Belize City, my friends on the deck waving, Kyle greeting me, such fun.

The bus named Greg is spilling over with people, gear, dogs and of course food to nourish our bodies.  My first day was passenger in Greg headed somewhere south, pointing at a map and, OK, that looks good.  What that turned out was Ian Anderson's Cave Resort, in the Blue Hole National Park..  Most of the Nine of us stayed in the bus or tents.  Jessica and I opted for a cabana.  Christmas Eve day we inner tubed 7 caves on Blue Hole River, now that was an adventure.  I was fine with the confines of cave tubing but when it came to some rapids I clung to our guide like glue.  The terrain was phenomenal, stalagmites, bats, darkness (we had head lamps) and then out into lush green jungle, a plethora of flowers, humongous vines, towering trees, then back into the next series of caves. We ended up at a resort called Jaguar.  There we encountered two baby howler monkeys, very fun.  They cavorted up my leg, over my shoulders, wrapped their tail around my neck or hung by their tail on my arm.

Today is Christmas and we cooked two local Turkeys with all the trimmings, played Christmas music.  The highlight was the local Children here in Hopkins landing.  They sang and danced for us, playing "drums" on upturned white buckets.  Hopkins is along the ocean, water very warm, swimming great.  Tonight I sleep in the bus dreaming about a warm shower somewhere someplace.

Hope the snow is still there when I return.  Will write later.  Love to all,  Mollie
