We would like to bring to your attention that Barry Hilton will be coming to San Diego to perform for SAJAC in April. He arrives the 17 April, the gig for SAJAC is on the 21st and he departs on the 25th for SA. We would like to know if there would be interest for Barry to do another performance for the South African community while he's there? I have also notified Gloudina from meetup.com about this.
Below is everything you need to view Barry's up to date portfolio.
Barry's Biography:
BARRY HILTON, "The Cousin", enjoys international status as a stand-up comedian and is undoubtedly one of South Africa's top performers. A skillful, generous and engaging entertainer,
he performs at the highest level, pulling out all the stops for sold-out audiences in South Africa and abroad. With his irrepressible sense of humor, he brings the house down whenever he
stands on stage. He is also an actor, a sought-after Master of Ceremonies at corporate events and an inspiring motivational speaker.
More about Barry
Barry’s material is appropriate for all ages and his quick wit; animated physical antics and hilarious facial expressions are his trademark. He regularly performs his solo showto audiences exceeding 4000 people. Hilton’s original, off-the-cuff performances and inimitable knack for adapting his material to suit client and audience requirements, ensures that he is invited back to perform time
and again. Corporate clients include BMW, Huletts, Informa Telecoms and Media Awards (UK), Pepsi, BP, Nedbank, ABSA, Spar.
Barry’s impressive arsenal of skills, exceptional talent and sheer passion for what he does makes him the consummate professional and an excellent choice for any event and audience.
Hi is also renowned in South Africa for starring in commercials (really funny ones) and television shows. He has released five live standup DVDs and starred in two movies: Finding
Lenny and Outrageous. Finding Lenny won best narrative feature at the Pan African Film Festival in Cannes and Hilton received a lead role nomination in the Best Actor category at the Feel
Good Film Festival in Hollywood. Another movie is on the cards for 2012, as are more television adverts.
2012 marks Barry’s 30th year as a professional stand-up comedian. He is a pioneer of comedy in South Africa and both a role model and inspiration to the country’s other comedians.
2011 was a big and busy year for Barry who did an average of three to four sold out shows each week, from public concerts to corporate performances throughout South Africa and
across the world.
In mid-2011, his Serial Comic World Tour took him down under to New Zealand and Australia where his shows were so well received that he was invited to perform at the Sydney
Comedy Store. He also performed to sold-out audiences in the UK, Middle East and much of Africa including Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and Democratic Republic of Congo.
"It's amazing to see the mix of audiences across the world and such a pleasure to make people laugh! I have the best job in the world, although I really should invest in an airline, or chat to
Richard Branson!" says Barry.
